A large part of my childhood and teenage years was spent playing music as a trumpeter before pursuing a career in photography. Seeing this young black trumpeter reminded me of my childhood self.
Since 2015, I have been creating a body of work entitled "London Fog", which was published in my photography book in 2019. I continue to photograph the fog in London whenever possible. The fog in London that morning was the reason I was out taking photos.
The sight of the young boy with his trumpet against the backdrop of Tower Bridge shrouded in fog felt like a convergence of my past and my present within a single frame, and that's why I call this image "Serendipity'.
